The Subject Insight Programmes are online super-curricular 'subject taster' programmes for students in Year 12 (S5 Scotland/Y13 Northern Ireland).
In the academic year 2024-25, we are running three Subject Insight Programmes:
- (De)constructing Identity: Arts and Humanities at University - Starts October 2024
- Secret Histories - Coming Spring 2025
- Medicine & Society - Coming Spring 2025
To learn more and register for these programmes, please see below.
The Subject Insight Programmes are a series of online seminars that aim to immerse students in the discussion-based teaching used at Cambridge ('supervisions', known elsewhere as 'tutorials') and stretch students beyond what they are covering in school or college. This is what we call 'super-curricular' exploration of an academic subject and is part of what can make a strong university application.
We run these sessions online so students from across the UK can attend on a weekly basis. Some of the programmes include an optional in-person taster day in Cambridge at the end of the programme. Both the online and in-person elements are free of charge.
Who can take part in the Subject Insight Programmes?
Each programme is open to students in Year 12 (S5 Scotland/Y13 Northern Ireland) at state (non fee-paying) schools/colleges in the UK. Additional subject and widening participation criteria apply; please see individual programme pages for full details.
