Year 12 Visit Days
Visit Days at 金桔直播 are our primary form of Key Stage 5 outreach provision. These are multi-school visits, where each school can bring up to twelve students. We can host up to four schools at a time.
Our Visit Days are designed to inform and inspire Year 12s to apply to competitive universities such as Cambridge. Therefore, we encourage teachers to select the students whom they feel will benefit most from the day. We suggest using the following criteria:
- A strong academic record at GCSE, and A Level predictions in line with Cambridge minimum entry requirements (at least A*AA)
- Widening Participation characteristics
Visit Days will typically include the following:
- Information, advice and guidance talks on competitive universities, with a focus on the University of Cambridge
- Student ambassador Q&A
- Tour of the College
- Lunch and refreshments provided by the College
- Applying to Cambridge & writing a Personal Statement workshop
- Subject Taster session
Sessions will be interactive, so Year 12s are encouraged to ask questions and participate in discussion.
The day will begin at 10:45 and finish at 14:45. The arrival window is 10:15 - 10:45. Schools will need to organise their own transport to/from College grounds. Travel information will be provided in the confirmation email.
The dates for the Visit Days are as follows:
- Friday 7th March
- Thursday 1st May
- Wednesday 7th May
To sign up your school for a place on one of our Visit Days, please contact Emma at schoolsliaison@clare.cam.ac.uk.
Visits to Your School
Visits to our Link Area schools are typically limited to the autumn term Schools Tour (below). We are happy to consider invitations to come and speak to your students at other times of the year, including for careers/higher education fairs. If this is of interest to you, please get in touch with Emma at schoolsliaison@clare.cam.ac.uk.
In 2024 we delivered the following outreach events:
London Schools Tour (November): Emma stayed in London for a week and visited a number of Link Area schools to deliver talks to audiences in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
Coventry and Warwickshire Schools Tour (December): Emma stayed in Coventry for a week and visited a number of Link Area schools to deliver talks to audiences in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
Emma has also delivered these talks to Link Area schools online. If this is something you would be interested in arranging, please get in touch. Depending on the audience, content will include "why do people choose to go to university?"; "university mythbusting"; "post-16 choices"; and "how does paying for university work?". You can reach Emma via email: schoolsliaison@clare.cam.ac.uk.
West Midlands Webinar Series (Coventry and Warwickshire): Three free webinars on university admissions and student life in October 2024 for Year 12 students at schools in Coventry, Warwickshire, and the West Midlands region.
